Fons and Porter are running a new Sale! Great savings from a great company offering inspiration for all levels of quilters. Check out the SALE!
Fons & Porter have this easy to make out of 10 inch Squares of Flannel fabric Brick Quilt Top. See the video below for how this quilt was made. I sent this quilt top off for professional machine quilting and binding and will post more pictures when it comes back.
Missouri Star Quilt Company did a wonderful job of professionally quilting the quilt above. The did the binding backing and provided the batting too for this quilt. Both the backing and front fabric are Flannel so extra thick and cozy. Cudo’s! To Missouri Start Quilt Company for a WONDERFUL job!
Quilting can be fun with the right tools. To start you need some rulers, markers, fabric, thread and an iron. Most of quilting is sewing strait lines but some of the quilts involve curves, applique technique, using piecing and hand sewing techniques. Some quilts are even more complicated and involve cutting fabric very accurately to get thebest results. Accuquilt has the tool to make cutting fabric easy and quick. Check out the sales they are having or give as a gift.
As promised pictures of my first quilting attempt. This is a lap quilt made from one jelly roll, backing fabric, quilt backing, and sash material in the same fabric line Kaffe Fasset. Thanks to my local Quilting Store they had a like fabric and I had bought the backing fabric for another project but it was too thick in hand, so since it had a nice contrast I used it as the backing fabric. I used a solid grey quilting thread in the bobbin and a variegated green in the top. Hopefully not to bad for a first attempt!
Eleanor Burns and Nancy Ziemen are the dynamic duo of quilting! They both inspired me to design and make this reversible dog coat. I used Hearts and Gizzards because she likes to eat Hearts and Gizzards. I also appliqued a bone and the silhouette of a Kerry Blue Terrier. Since I love watching Downton Abby I chose to use their fabric line for this Downton Abby Coat.
Here is another fun video using 10 inch squares to make a fast easy quilt, from Fons and Porter.
I have two more quilts in the works, now if I could just find time to sash and get these quilted!
